How Not To Burn On The Beach

Summer is usually the best time to go to the beach. The waves are manageable, the people are lively, and the sun is shining brightly. Along with this enjoyable weather, you cannot avoid having your skin darken. Fortunately, you can do some things in order to reduce the tanning and prevent burning the skin.  

Preparation For Tanning

Preparing can be bothersome, but you can undergo a peeling procedure before going to the beach. Make sure to perform the said procedure at least a day prior to allow time for the skin to relax before being exposed to direct sunlight at the beach. 

Dead Time For Tanning

Obviously, exposing yourself to direct sunlight at the hottest time of the day is a sure way to burn your skin. If you are not preparing or applying anything for your skin, then do not go out under the sunlight from 11 AM to 4 PM. 

Use Sunscreen

Sunscreen is the most common protection when bathing at the beach under direct sunlight. When you apply sunscreen, wait 15 to 20 minutes in order for the cream to settle. If you have a lighter skin tone, select a sunscreen with more SPF. 


If you plan to regularly go out to the beach, you can start by limiting your time of exposure to direct sunlight. As days pass and you continue going to the beach, you can gradually increase the exposure time. 

Little Tricks That Matter

  1. Avoid sunbathing right after eating meals or before. 
  2. Avoid using perfume and soap before sunbathing.
  3. Do not be stationary. If possible, stay moving from time to time.
